“DEAR SWEET POTATO LOVER,
Our family are honored, humbled and really excited to be able to offer what we believe to be the best sweet-potato varieties in the world – especially because they’ve been grown in our fertile black clay soils without any residue traceable. Some of these varieties burst with flavor and pure goodness, making a healthy diet super easy. We as a family would love to be your sweet potato supplier if you would have us.
Yours sincerely,
The Langplaas family”

ORLEANS SWEET POTATO
‘Orleans’ is in many ways a twin to ‘Beauregard’ – and at the same time a significant improvement. It has a smooth light rose skin and deep orange flesh with a much more consistent shape as Beauregard. We love its flavor together with its moist flesh when baked. A very popular orange flesh variety.

EVANGELINE SWEET POTATO
‘Evangeline’ is a premium orange flesh organic sweet potato variety with excellent flavor and texture. It has a deep orange flesh and a beta carotene content is 40% greater than the standard variety ‘Beauregard’. The skin is slightly red at harvest but fades to rose in storage. The flavor is unique and lovely. It is bit picky on soil types which makes it difficult to grow. As we find the “sweet
spot” for it’s ideal growing conditions on our sweet potato farm, we will have limited volumes to offer in the 2020 season.

BELLEVUE
Bellevue is a beauty! Super smooth copper skinned organic sweet potato variety with superior storage qualities and shelf life. It is a bit less sweet compared to Orleans and has a very moist flesh. A variety that we believe compares well with Covington, but is better in terms of uniformity, skin color, shelf life and smooth texture. One of the most showy roots on the market!

BEAUREGARD
Developed at Louisiana State University in 1987, this variety may be the most well known orange-flesh variety in the sweet-potato world. It is an old variety and has been improved with a new variety ‘Orleans’ through the hard work of sweet-potato breeder and friend Dr. Don Labonte at the Louisiana State University. Most sweet potato farms do not grow Beauregard anymore (including us) as Orleans are much better. See our organic sweet potato called “Orleans.”

BURGUNDY
‘’Burgundy’ is a new and astoundingly flavorsome variety. It has a deep orange flesh, red skin and is very consistent in shape. But the most amazing thing is the sugar content in cured ‘Burgundy’ roots – it is nearly twice as high as in Orleans. In the words of some who have tasted it “it‘s simply AMAZING”. Unfortunately we are still increasing and importing planting material for this variety and thus will not be able to be your sweet potato supplier for Burgundy in 2020. Watch this space!

The purple skin and creamy white flesh of this tuber encapsulates the traditional sweet potato flavour of our country. Its yield and susceptibility to diseases is not the best product on our sweet potato farm, but we have mastered its cultivation.
